Reed Beds
A reed bed is a natural way to clean contaminated waters. The process relies on bacteria within the reed bed feeding on the harmful materials occurring in the effluents as they slowly filter through the bed.
We have been designing and building reedbeds at Mayglothling Waste Ltd for over 20 years. In that time we have become expert in working out the right solutions for our customers. There are two different types of reed bed Horizontal and Vertical Flow both of which we have installed.
A reed bed can be used with a septic tank or treatment plant to further improve the quality of the water. This is particularly important where the customer has a very strict discharge consent to comply with. To find out more about this, read our Biodisc and reed bed case study.
