The 24 oak trees that we planted to mark the 40th anniversary year of the business are growing very well on our Herefordshire clay. There are plans to complete the avenue with a further 8 oak trees to be added in Autumn 2011 and Spring 2012. A decision was made to plant trees with a view to offsetting our carbon emissions.
Our new Iveco 2000 gallon septic tanker lorry is on the road. Given to driver Robin who has been with the company for over five years. This was built in our own workshop to our own specification to insure we can gain access to the trickier sites with the latest environmentally enhanced engine which supercedes Euro5 requirements. This engine produces some of the lowest emissions possible. This vehicle will be running out of our Kington depot and will be operational six days a week.

Westminster politicians have announced that they will defer the implementation of the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010 which came into force on 6 April 2010 in England only. Under these regulations householders with a septic tank are required to register their septic tank with the environment agency. We spoke with the Environment Agency and they advised us that householders in England could still register voluntarily at this stage. No decision will be reached until December 2011 and no reason for the deferment was given.
Householders in Wales however are required to register their septic tanks with the Environment Agency Wales (EAW) by December 2011. The Welsh government believe that if they know the location of the septic tanks in Wales they will be better placed to identify those that are poorly maintained and causing pollution.
The EAW have confirmed that they will not be taking enforcement action against people who have not registered until June 2012.
Registration is said to be a simple process and customers can contact the EAW directly.
